The California Automobile Museum Offers Nostalgia in Spades

If you’ve grown weary of all the opulent new sheetmetal from Pebble Beach, or from this year’s auto show season, take a look at the classic cars on display at the California Automobile Museum. Here, you won’t find million-dollar sports cars, rather everyday cars that tell a story about California’s history. Some are classic, some are quirky, and others are a little harder to describe.

Such is the case with the museum’s Star Streak Motorhome, built in the 1970s. Although it’s often confused for a Cadillac, the Motorhome actually sits on an Oldsmobile chassis. Many will find a healthy dose of nostalgia in cars like the 1964 Ford Falcon Deluxe station wagon, a family road tripper. The California Automobile Museum also features one rather polarizing car, a 1977 AMC Pacer. It may not be everyone’s favorite, but it represents the shift that took place in California after the gas crisis. Check out the video to learn more about these cars.

The California Automobile Museum is located in Sacramento. It features more than 130 cars, some dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, as well as special exhibits. Check out the museum’s website here.
