Utah vs. Arizona prediction, line: Utes a live underdog

It has been the best of times and worst of times this year for Utah, which will be going to the desert in hopes of getting right against Arizona after being pummeled by Colorado over the weekend.

Utah has a balanced attack. The team does not necessarily excel at hitting 3s or rebounding, but is solid across the board. What has been shown is that these efforts are all or nothing. The Utes have wins over Kentucky, Nevada, Minnesota and BYU — but three of their five losses are by 20 or more points including one to Coastal Carolina.

Arizona is looking to get right after being swept by Oregon and Oregon State. The Wildcats rely a lot of free throws to ignite their offense, ranking 22nd in the country in free throws attempted per game. Utah does a good job of not sending teams to the line, surrendering the eighth-fewest free-throw attempts per game of any team in college basketball.

Arizona does not have a good track record against Utah, going 1-5-1 against the spread since the start of the 2016-17 despite being 4-2 straight up.

This is another spot where a veteran Utah bunch is catching a lot of points against a talent-but-young Arizona squad. Utah’s versatility — nearly everyone is a capable 3-point shooter — should bother the Wildcats.

The play: Utah, +12¹/₂.
