Governors Ball 2020 lineup announced: Missy Elliott, Flume and more

What year is this?

The 2020 Governors Ball Music Festival returns to Randall’s Island Park in New York City from June 5 to 7.

And judging by the lineup announced Thursday, it’s set to be a weekend of throwbacks. Performers include hip-hop legend Missy Elliott, early aughts frat rockers Vampire Weekend and Fleetwood Mac songstress Stevie Nicks.

But there’s plenty of new mixed in with the classics: Artists including Flume, Solange, Miley Cyrus, Charly Bliss and more will also take the stage.

Elliott, the headliner of the annual festival, paved the way for female rappers with her iconic 1997 solo debut “Supa Dupa Fly” and then went on to sell 30 million records. The 48-year-old recently returned to the spotlight after 10 years off, taking home the Vanguard Award at MTV’s Music Video Awards in August.

Festival-goers can maybe expect some raunchy fun from Flume: At 2019’s Burning Man, the Australian DJ made headlines when he performed oral sex during his set.

This year’s lineup includes some familiar acts to festival-goers of years past. Of Monsters and Men performed in 2013 and 2016. Vampire Weekend headlined in 2014. Flume performed in 2015 and 2017. Tame Impala appeared in 2015. And Bleachers took the stage in 2017.

Tickets for the 10th annual festival go on sale Friday at noon. Three-day general admission costs $285 for early birds and $300 for advance. Once those sell out, the price gets jacked up to $315. VIP and platinum packages are also available.

The day-to-day schedule and prices have yet to be announced.
