Nick Foles reclaims Jaguars quarterback job from Gardner Minshew

Minshew Mania is over before the end of Movember.

Gardner Minshew, the mustachioed rookie quarterback who has started for Jacksonville since Week 2, will cede the job back to Nick Foles following the Jaguars’ bye week, coach Doug Marrone announced Tuesday.

Foles was signed to a four-year contract worth $88 million as a free agent in the offseason, but he suffered a broken collarbone in the season opener against Kansas City.

Minshew, the Jags’ sixth-round pick out of Washington State, has gained cult-hero status in Jacksonville after winning four of eight starts. The rookie has completed 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,285 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions for a 92.8 passer rating.

The Jags (4-5) are off this week, but Marrrone said Foles — who started and won Super Bowl LII as Carson Wentz’s injury replacement for Philadelphia in February. 2018 — will start Nov. 17 against Indianapolis.
