Skokie police shoot armed man in 7-Eleven parking lot

As officers approached the man inside of a parked car, he flashed a semi-automatic handgun, police said.
An armed man was shot Monday by police officers in northwest suburban Skokie.
About 11:15 p.m. officers responding to calls of a suspicious person inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, 7950 Crawford Ave., approached a man sitting inside of a dark-colored SUV, Skokie police said. As officers approached him, he pulled out a semi-automatic handgun.
An officer fired a single shot, striking the man in the abdomen, police said. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The semi-automatic handgun was found at the scene of the shooting, police said.
The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit and Skokie police are investigating.
