Five pressing Mets questions Luis Rojas will have to answer

Here are five questions new Mets manager Luis Rojas will face at his introductory press conference on Friday:

1. Is Edwin Diaz the closer, and what is the plan to get him right? Diaz flopped in his first season with the Mets, but team officials aren’t ready to give up on him.

2. How will Rojas’ relationship with Robinson Cano affect his handling of the second baseman? Cano has reached the point in his career when he might benefit from multiple days off a week to keep him fresh. Will Rojas — whose tight relationship with Cano certainly didn’t hurt his chances of landing the job — be prepared to make decisions that might ruffle the former All-Star?

3. What’s the plan for the rotation? The Mets have six starters — Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, Steven Matz, Rick Porcello and Michael Wacha — for five spots. What gives?

4. Does Syndergaard get a personal catcher? The right-hander didn’t mesh with Wilson Ramos, leading to controversy late last season.

5. Is there a plan for left field? The Mets will enter spring training with J.D. Davis, Dominic Smith and potentially Yoenis Cespedes as options to play left field. If Cespedes is healthy, where do the others fit?
