Surveillance video from a car dashboard camera helped police identify a man suspected of several vehicle burglaries.
The suspect, 28-year-old Roberto Torres of Santa Ana, allegedly stole items from the glove compartment of a vehicle parked in the area of Douglas and MacArthur Boulevard in Irvine on at about 1:40 AM on October 20, 2019.
Surveillance video from the vehicle’s dashboard camera show Torres smashing the window before taking the items. Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage and recognized Torres from a previous contact according to Irvine Police Department.
Torres was arrested at his home two days later and booked into Orange County Jail. A search of the residence revealed additional items that Torres is suspected of having stolen from several other vehicles.
