Ever wonder what you’d get if a Cheez-It cracker mated with a Hot Pocket?
The answer is Pizza Hut’s new Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza. It’s the latest high-octane snack hybrid that nobody ever asked for but will probably taste good enough at a certain hour of the night.
The new menu item includes four jumbo squares of Cheez-It sharp cheddar encased in a golden cracker envelope.
The Cheez-It facsimiles come stuffed with either cheese or pepperoni and cheese, and come with a marinara dip, reports Business Insider. They are “available for a limited time only,” per the company site, and run customers $6.49 for four — $6 if you buy two or more items from the menu.
“We pride ourselves on being the go-to for unexpected pizza innovations, and I can’t think of a more badass partner than Cheez-It to bring our next original menu item to life,” said Marianne Radley, Pizza Hut’s Chief Branding Officer and self-proclaimed Cheez-It fiend, in a press release.
Pizza Hut also announced the Cheez-It Pizza in a Twitter post on Tuesday with the tag, “She’s here and she’s beautiful.”
And it seems most snack enthusiasts concur with the sentiments, with responses ranging from “it’s a must try” to “what a crossover event! They look stunning.”
A less enthusiastic Tweeter replied, “Idkkkkkkkkkkk” with a picture of “Workaholics” actor Adam DeVine pulling a disgusted face.
The pizza purveyor wasn’t experimenting for the fun of it, they say. The Cheez-It Pizza was created to take advantage of the snack trend sweeping restaurant chains, reports CNBC.
Pizza Hut has been on something of an innovation tear lately, revamping their signature pan crust pizza and releasing a Toyota Tundra delivery vehicle with a robotic oven in a bid to compete with Domino’s.
This isn’t Cheez-It’s first fling with fusion either. They rolled out a Cheez-It and boxed wine pairing — a veritable poor man’s wine and cheese dinner — this past summer.
