NYPD warns of another potential cop-shooter on loose in Bronx

The accused cop-shooter who allegedly opened fire on a police cruiser before being arrested for blasting up a Bronx police station may not have committed the first attack, The Post has learned.

The NYPD warned officers on Thursday there was a “credible threat” of a possible attack on cops in the Bronx’s 41st Precinct — where Robert Williams allegedly committed a pair of assassination attempts on cops — with investigators casting doubt on whether Williams was behind the first attempted hit.

Officers were urged to “be vigilant and alert” in the message sent out department-wide, specifically telling cops in the 41st Precinct, to be on the lookout for a gunman who may try to fire on NYPD officer.

A screenshot of the alert was shared on Twitter by the Sergeants Benevolent Association.

Police sources told The Post that investigators were concerned there may have been another gunman in two police shootings less than 12 hours apart in Hunts Point this past weekend.

Williams was arrested at the 41st Precinct house and charged with two counts attempted murder in connection with both shootings.

The alert was sent out in an “abundance of caution” in case a second shooter was still hunting cops, sources said.

Both cops survived the shootings and were treated at Lincoln Hospital.
