Man arrested for DUI while driving car with DUI warning sign
A man driving a car with a sign warning against drunken driving was arrested Sunday morning in California for driving under the influence.
Talk about irony.
The man wove across three lanes on Interstate 80 in Berkeley, California Highway Patrol Officer Herman Baza told local television station KTVU, before officers pulled him over around 4 a.m. He was well above the state blood-alcohol limit of 0.08 percent, Baza said.
Mounted on top of the sedan was a sign that read: “I should probably get a ride home” and “Buzzed driving is drunk driving.”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration pays drivers to display such signs, Baza said.
“It’s a good message, but he’s not necessarily the best role model,” Baza told KTVU. “He was weaving all over the place. We caught him early enough that we prevented him from crashing.”
CHP Oakland tweeted a photo of the car’s sign along with the definition of irony.
“The lad was got by the Irony Gods,” CHP tweeted.
