While Bronny James’ famous father had chants of “MVP!” thrown his way on the road recently, LeBron James was there to watch a fan throw what looked like a piece of candy at his son from the stands.
The incident happened with 3:08 to play in the third quarter of Bronny James’ Sierra Canyon team’s game loss Paul VI Catholic High School (Va.) on Monday at the HoopHall Classic in Springfield, Mass — a game broadcast live on ESPNU.
The small yellow object came flying out of the Springfield College stands and appeared to hit Bronny James in the back as he attempted to inbound the ball along the sidelines early in the second half.
The candy-tossing fan was ejected by security after the refs stopped the game, LeBron James was just left to shake his head, according to Yahoo Sports. These was already extra security in the building because of the Lakers star stopping in to watch his son play live for the second time this season.
This does not appear to be the first time Bronny James, who went scoreless in 13 minutes, has dealt with some form of scrutiny from fans.
“You’d be surprised by all the stuff Bronny has to go through,” teammate Ziaire Williams told Yahoo Sports postgame. “It’s not fair, but he doesn’t let it faze him at all. I’m learning how to be more like that from him and he’s younger than me.”
