How Sherri Shepherd lost 25 pounds
- Sherri Shepherd lost 25 pounds after giving up sugar for more than 260 days.
- Sherri, 51, also hinted that she’s on the keto diet.
- In addition to losing weight, Sherri also said ditching sugar has given her more energy and clarity.
Sherri Shepherd is the latest celeb to try out the keto diet-but while others are raving about their ability to eat bacon or cook with butter, Sherri’s crediting a less talked about aspect of keto: ditching sugar.
Sherri, 51, shared a photo of herself on Instagram on Saturday, rocking skinny jeans and a tank top. “Getting it in!!!” she captioned the photo. “Over 260 days #sugarfree … can’t begin to describe how #amazing I feel.”
Sherri, a former cohost on The View, also wrote that she’s lost more than 25 pounds since March, saying she did it the “slow and steady” way. “This is not a fad-it’s my life that is at stake,” she wrote. Sherri also implied that the keto diet helped her lose weight, too, using the hashtags #ketogenic and #ketodiva in her post.
See what happened when one woman gave up sugar for an entire month:
But weight loss isn’t the only benefit of ditching sugar and going keto-Sherri has also seen more “energy, clarity of thought and mind,” and says she feels more “focused” and “patient” with her son.
This isn’t the first time Sherri’s hinted at her weight loss, though-since starting her diet in March, she’s been posting tidbits of her progress all over Instagram (mainly through fierce selfies). In one, she admitted that she still sometimes longs for her “trusty #butterfinger,”-but that she’s already donated her size 16/18 jeans, “so not going back.”
In another, Sherri showed off in a polka dot dress she’s had in her closet forever. “I’ve been holding onto this @gracianewyork #polkadots dress for five years bc it was always too tight,” she wrote–adding that it felt so good to finally be able to wear it now.
If you’re wondering what sparked Sherri’s decision to lose weight, look no further than her son, Jeffrey.
“Sometimes you go through stuff and you want to just grab something sweet,” she said on The Wendy Williams Show back in July, per Us Weekly. “Ex-husbands, things like that. And I was doing that and Jeffrey was in the backseat, Wendy, and I was eating something I wasn’t supposed to. He said, ‘Mommy, if you die, who’s going to be my bodyguard?’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ ‘Who’s going to watch me?’ And literally I said, ‘Sherri, you’ve got to do something different.’”
So clearly, ditching sugar has worked.
