This interview was short, even by Bill Belichick’s standards.
The Patriots coach, who Saturday released a statement on Josh Gordon’s conditional reinstatement into the NFL on Friday, wasn’t about to elaborate any further on the situation during New England’s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
Take a listen here to the brief halftime interview with Steve Burton of WBTZ TV in Boston:
In case you’re curious, this was the full statement from Belichick: “For the past eight months, Josh’s situation has been entirely a league matter. When Josh returns to our program, we will evaluate the entire situation and do what we feel is best for Josh and the team.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Gordon that on Sunday, the Patriots receiver can rejoin the team for meetings and conditioning and individual workouts. After that, according to a league statement, “Subject to appropriate progress on clinical care and other arrangements, he will be permitted to participate in team activities, including practice.”
But Gordon is barred from next Thursday’s preseason game against the Panthers because of a lack of sufficient conditioning and practice time.
We’ll have to see if Belichick will have more statements to release on this matter in the future.
