Baby critical after being shot 4 times in stepmom’s car in Philadelphia

A baby boy was shot four times — including in the head and chest — when the car he was in was riddled with bullets in Philadelphia, according to police.

The 11-month-old’s stepmother tried to flee after hearing shots ring out as she drove home through north Philly late Saturday, Philadelphia police said.

“She said she had no idea that her car had even been hit and so she kept on driving,” Sgt. Eric Gripp told The Post.

“When she grabbed the baby from her car he was bleeding — that was when she first realized he’d been hit.”

The infant was raced to a local hospital where he was listed as critical but stable, Gripp said. The boy, who was not identified, had gunshot wounds to the head, chest and buttocks.

Police said they did not yet have a motive nor any idea who the intended target was.

Three men were injured in a triple shooting just blocks away about an hour earlier. It was not known if the attacks were linked, according to WPVI. No arrests have been made in either case.

“I hope that baby pulls through,” the stepmother’s neighbor, Kim Cash, told NBC. “Eleven months old. My heart is breaking right now. I don’t know what to do.”
